Lakewood Cemetery November 7, 2008
I generally visit the Wellstone grave at Lakewood every year on October 25th. This year, I was unable to get there until today. As I neared the stone and saw what was there, I wept. Tears of hope, tears of joy and tears of remembering. I am so grateful for our victory of President elect Barack Obama. I know all of the work Wellstone Action has done in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Florida, and various other parts of the country over the last 4 years helped make a difference. There were many graduates of camp Wellstone who were either running for office or helping run the very well managed Obama campaign. The legacy lives on.

November 7, 2008I wept when I first saw this. I was working away on my computer and tears just flowed. This is such a powerful image. Paul truly cultivated a potent legacy. I have experienced the healing energy that we all witnessed during the Wellstone campaigns, his tenure in the Senate and the life experiences he shared with many Minnesotan’s throughout Barack Obama’s transformational journey to the presidency.
Wise words from a poet come to the surface of my mind as I embrace this image on my large monitor.
Live with intention.
Walk to the edge.
Listen hard.
Practice and embrace wellness.
Play with abandon.
Laugh.
Choose with no regret.
Continue to learn.
Appreciate your friends.
Do what you love.
LIVE AS IF THIS IS ALL THERE IS.
Keep up the great work… Terry. I am so moved by your work.

November 8, 2008It does take time for history to runs it’s course. Often we think the reactions or the reflections will be immediate but cannot be. I agree that Wellstone left a powerful legacy that ultimately had an impact on this election of Barack Obama. And specifically, the work of camp Wellstone in building an infrastructure of leadership and elected officials who could usher in a new era in public service. This photo touched my heart. Thank you Terry.
