When I look at this image… a quote from Annie Dillard comes to my mind…

” How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives.”

This photograph of a Republican Scanner… working at a Democratic meeting… captures one of the major factors that has caused this country to be in the desperate position it is today. The fear… the mistrust… this young man’s face resonates with a duplicitous, scheming energy. Republicans spying on Democrats and Democrats spying on Republicans is NOT an act that promotes DEMOCRACY. Democracy is not only about an individual’s freedom of speech and thought and action… it is also about respecting and protecting every American’s freedom of speech, thought and action. It is just incredulous to me that both parties are investing time, energy and money… openly “spying” on each other. At a time when people are losing their jobs, their homes, their healthcare… Whether we agree or not as Democrats, Republicans or Independents… we all need to think about how much better off we ALL would be…. if we invested our energy and efforts in trying create and form solutions for America’s people. I am tired of the sniping, the calculating actions and dialogue of this young man… of the Clinton Campaign… the Obama Campaign… the Coleman Campaign… This country… and we as its people … we are in serious trouble and as a result the whole world is in peril. Spreading fear and negativity is not part of the TRUE FOUNDATION of DEMOCRACY. We ALL OF US… Republicans and Democrats need to spend as much energy as we have to invest our time and focus to healing and nurturing the true founding roots of DEMOCRACY.

Great shot, Terry. You even caught the defeat in his eyes.
