Voting today.
I am always moved when I see new immigrants involved in the political process. Yesterday at the Cedar Cultural Center GOTV rally was no different. I’m curious to know in percentages of voting turnout among the new immigrant citizens compared to those of us who are long ago descendants of immigrants who came to America for a better life. The part about people looking for a better life hasn’t changed, but the acceptance of the words on the Statue of Liberty seems to be fading.
Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door
Give me your tired, your poor, your tired, poor.
Vote today.
