Michelle and Barack Obama, Xcel Center. St. Paul, MN
I think the thing that I will remember most about this night was the almost deafening roar of the crowd when Barack and Michelle first took the stage. He is going to be a GREAT President. One other thing I noticed watching the two of them together, was the love, support and respect they display for each other. She is every bit his equal, and I look forward with excitement to Michelle’s role as first lady, just as much as I look forward to Barack Obama as President of the United States.

June 4, 2008It was really sweet to see Barack and Michelle whispering to each other, waving at the crowd, and then just before she left him alone on the podium to make this historic speech giving him the fist bump. The columnist for our magazine wrote at the moment the five women he was there with started crying. And then when Obama said, ““Tonight, I can stand before you and say that I will be the Democratic nominee for President of the United States.” Everybody cried. Women, Men. Everybody had tears running down their face.

June 4, 2008It really was emotional. It really feels good to have that sense of hope again. As Jesse Jackson said 20 years ago when I was photographing his Presidential campaign. Keep hope alive!! Hope is alive and well.
